Warrior Heirlooms

30 May

Welcome to the Warrior Heirlooms Guide for Legion. This post will cover all three of the Warrior specs, including the optimal enchants. Please keep in mind that heirlooms are designed for leveling, and the choices of which pieces of gear to use as well as which enchants are designed towards leveling rather than raiding. In many cases the choices are the same, but if something seems odd then I’ve likely chosen it for a reason. Feel free to ask if you’re confused or care to offer other comments or suggestions. In the long run, as long as you’re wearing heirlooms with the right primary stats on it, it doesn’t necessarily matter which ones you choose.

Arms
Arms (DPS)

Slot Item Name Enchant
Helm Polished Helm of Valor N/A
Neck Eternal Emburfury Talisman Gift of Critical Strike*
Cloak Worn Stoneskin Gargoyle Cloak Gift of Critical Strike*
Shoulder Polished Spaulders of Valor Greater Tiger Fang Inscription
Chest Polished Breastplate of Valor Peerless Stats
Legs Polished Legplates of Valor Angerhide Leg Armor
Ring 1 Captain Sander’s Returned Band Gift of Critical Strike*
Ring 2 Dread Pirate Ring Gift of Critical Strike*
Main Hand Bloodied Arcanite Reaper Crusader
Off Hand None None
Trinket 1 Swift Hand of Justice N/A
Trinket 2 Swift Hand of Justice N/A

If you don’t have access to the enchants mentioned above, you may choose others. Your stat priorities are as follows (from Icy-Veins.com):

Strength > Crit > Mastery > Multistrike > Haste > Versatility

Fury
Fury (DPS)

Slot Item Name Enchant
Helm Polished Helm of Valor N/A
Neck Eternal Emburfury Talisman Gift of Haste*
Cloak Worn Stoneskin Gargoyle Cloak Gift of Haste*
Shoulder Polished Spaulders of Valor Greater Tiger Fang Inscription
Chest Polished Breastplate of Valor Peerless Stats
Legs Polished Legplates of Valor Angerhide Leg Armor
Ring 1 Captain Sander’s Returned Band Gift of Haste*
Ring 2 Dread Pirate Ring Gift of Haste*
Main Hand Bloodied Arcanite Reaper Crusader
Off Hand Bloodied Arcanite Reaper Elemental Force
Trinket 1 Swift Hand of Justice N/A
Trinket 2 Swift Hand of Justice N/A

If you don’t have access to the enchants mentioned above, you may choose others. Your stat priorities are as follows (from Icy-Veins.com):

Strength > Haste > Crit > Mastery > Haste > Multistrike > Versatility

Protection
Protection (Tank)

Slot Item Name Enchant
Helm Burnished Helm of Might N/A
Neck Eternal Talisman of Evasion Gift of Critical Strike*
Cloak Ripped Sandstorm Cloak Gift of Critical Strike*
Shoulder Burnished Pauldrons of Might Greater Tiger Fang Inscription
Chest Burnished Breastplate of Might Peerless Stats
Legs Burnished Legplates of Might Angerhide Leg Armor
Ring 1 Captain Sander’s Returned Band Gift of Critical Strike*
Ring 2 Dread Pirate Ring Gift of Critical Strike*
Main Hand Bloodsoaked Skullforge Reaver Crusader
Off Hand Flamescarred Draconian Deflector Vitality
Trinket 1 Swift Hand of Justice N/A
Trinket 2 Swift Hand of Justice N/A

If you don’t have access to the enchants mentioned above, you may choose others. Also, while Mastery is higher on your stat priority list than Crit, you don’t actually benefit from Mastery until level 80, which is why I suggest Crit enchants on ring, neck, and back rather than Mastery. If you want to switch the enchants out at level 80+ feel free to do so, but I personally reuse my heirlooms because I level an army of alts as well, so I prefer to get the most bang for my buck by benefiting for as many levels as possible rather than getting maximum effect for only 10-20 levels and nothing for the previous 60-80.

Your stat priorities are as follows (from Icy-Veins.com):

Strength > Bonus Armor > Mastery > Crit = Versatility > Haste > Multistrike

Is this still accurate for legion? I just started this game and my friend gave me some gold to buy heirlooms/enchants to level my first character with. (Warrior)

Yes, nothing has changed in the world of heirlooms for legion.

no stam trinkets for prot warriors? inherited mark of tyranny? insignia of the horde/aliance?

no tendrils of the void for dps?

no off hand (and enchant) for prot warriors?

Also what is the best leveling spec in legion?

Stam trinkets are pointless if you’re leveling in BoA’s. If anything comes remotely close to killing you, you’re probably doing something wrong. TotV trinket is fine, but not everyone has it or easy access to it, compared to the ones you can simply buy.

The offhand and enchant for prot, I’ll fix. Not sure how that was left out to begin with. Flamescarred Draconian Deflector for the shield, with the Vitality enchant. There are other options, but Vitality gives Versatility which is the only shield enchant that will really benefit your DPS. You can do Shield Spikes, but the damage on those is low and doesn’t scale well at all.

I suggest your preference between Fury and Prot for leveling. Fury at first seems super squishy as you’re getting your artifact and shortly after, but once you get a few points into the weapon that completely changes and you become a weapon of mass destruction. Get comfortable with the fact that your health will often be low, and yet you can pull a fresh pack of mobs when you’re at 30% health and still kill them all without dying. Prot kills significantly slower than Fury, but the survivability of it is insane.

If you’re not terribly comfortable with the warrior, I suggest Prot. If you are, I suggest Fury. I don’t like the way Arms feels, or how it plays, so I don’t personally suggest you use it unless you’re already a fan of Arms or intend to use it for endgame content.

A bit of a mix for me. I’m hyped for the changes they’re making to the leveling process with scaling zones, but that’s technically coming before BFA. A lot of the features sound really cool to me, and I’m looking forward to having those things in the game.

The story of the expac itself is what I’m not terribly thrilled about. I don’t care about trolls or about Zandalar. The concept of factions trying to take over continents is a cool idea, I like the conflict there, and yet I feel like the faction war is the most ridiculous waste of time in Warcraft’s history. I get it, the war between the factions is the origin of the game, it’s in the freaking name. But the core of the gameplay being faction wars is a thing of Warcraft, not World of Warcraft. In WoW, we’ve come together to face threats to the world itself time and time again. Basically, the story is getting in the way of the gameplay, at this point. I really wish WoW hadn’t been based on the Warcraft story at all, honestly.

I would be far more interested in the story if the Alliance and Horde were teaming up, literally teaming up (cross faction grouping), to face off against a common foe. Alliance vs Horde is tired, it’s old and busted. The world just got stabbed in the heart, and we’re going to focus on how much we hate each other?
